Humanism Today, a World without Religion

In the Philosopher’s Garden

From Philippe L. De Coster, B.Th., D.D.

I do not believe that a “drive for knowledge” is the father of philosophy, but rather that another drive, here as elsewhere, used knowledge (as well as mis-knowledge) merely as a tool for humanism. But everyone who looks at people’s basic drives, to see how far they may have played their little game right here as inspiring geniuses (or daemons), will find that they all practiced humanitarian philosophy at some point, and that every single one of them would be only too pleased to present itself as the ultimate purpose of existence and as rightful master of all other drives. Every drive craves mastery, and this leads it to try philosophizing. Obviously, the truly scientific people, things might be different, even “better” if you will, with them, there might be something like a drive for knowledge, some independent little clockwork mechanism that, once well wound, ticks bravely away without essentially involving the rest of the scholar’s drives. For this reason, the scholar’s real interests usually lie somewhere else, as with the family, earning money, or even in politics; in fact, it is almost a matter of indifference whether his little engine is put to work in this or that field of research, and whether the promising young worker turns himself into a good philologist or fungus expert or chemist, it doesn’t signify anything about him that he becomes one thing or the other. In contrast and for sure, there is absolutely nothing impersonal about the philosopher; and in particular his morals bear decided and decisive witness to who he is, which means, in what order of rank the innermost drives of his own nature stand with respect to the other.

Science of Thought Group on Facebook

Science of Thought Group philosophy and psychology is about not leaving it to experts, but taking responsibility for our own lives and our own actions. It is about human change and growth, about the realisation of human potential, and about being an origin rather than a pawn. This means that you, the reader, are being at every point challenged to change and grow, to realise your potential, to become more of an origin and less of a pawn.

The Cousin - Psychological Emotional Tension  Video, by Rome Grant

Intimacy between two people is made possible only at the Centaur stage because it is only then that roles can be laid aside. You can't be intimate and playing a role at the same time. Centaur consciousness makes  use of dialectical thinking and what Wilber calls vision-logic.

Popular Recreational Unofficial Drugs

As a Warning

By Hagur (on TumbIr Hagurslave)

In the gay nightlife scene worldwide, drugs can be rife. Research has suggested that gay men may be up to seven times more likely to take illegal drugs than the wider population (this research was conducted by the Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF) and the University of Central Lancashire, and sampled more than 4,000 people over two years).

It is my experience that  young people mostly are interested in sniffing sneakers of all kind. Lately (summer 2015), I bought for myself three pairs of  sneakers in a sport shop, but I did not purchase them till I was sure the smell would give me the effect and the expected satisfaction for what I bought them for. As I said, mostly young people are playing with sneakers.

Hypnosis or self-hypnosis as you probably already know is something we all experience every day as our brains are also constantly shifting gear. Hypnosis on a practical level opens up a direct pathway to the subconscious part of the brain / mind. This is the part of the brain that produces dreams during sleep. On a more basic level it's also a kind of store house of memories, and experiences together with all the associated emotions, beliefs and behaviours.

How Self-hypnosis Works

Research and study by Philippe L. De Coster, B.Th.,D.D.

In times past philosophers and psychologists had only interpreted the World; henceforth their task is to change it; thinking is now becoming a form of praxis. It was only that philosophers and psychologists previously had preferred thought to action; the understanding of the world and the human that many had arrived at the belief that it was impossible or at least pointless, to try to change it. If philosophical reflection had led them to renounce the very idea of praxis, this seems to have been especially for those who meditated the truth of death and the nature of the human desire. With many of these philosophers and psychologists of old, their thinking about ultimate truths was conditioned by their social positioning, and to an extent which they could never know. Certainly their philosophy and psychological findings were not as disinterested as thought or pretended, either to themselves and the others or both. It is a resonant image: the cultured philosophers and psychologists; excluding religious ministers as the pope even, bishops, priests, Protestant pastors, and the immensity of sect leaders, the doom preachers no longer of our time; having renounced praxis find themselves, against their will, embroiled in violent social struggle and respond by offering the forces of law and order the use of their opera-glasses as a makeshift rifle-sight.
